Mine and Lydia's conversation this morning:
H: Lydia, go get your shoes
L: why?
H: Because we are going to church
L: why?
H: to learn about Jesus
L: why?
H: because He died for us
L: why?
H: because He loves us
L: why?
H: because He created us
L: why?
H: because He wanted us to worship Him
L: (silence)
H: (PHEW!)
This was a close call but I have a feeling that next time I won't be so lucky.
She's two. How in the world does she understand all that? I know, you're going to say she doesn't and it was just a game and normally I'd agree with you but this time was very different.
We had this conversation (verbatim) twice this morning within about 15 minutes (she still hadn't gotten her shoes!) and both times she stopped right there. I really believe that they understand so much more than what we give them credit for but they know how to play us and so they do! They are just so smart! Especially Lydia :-).
