Ok, this was too long in coming and now that it's here, it's just too long!
We were in the NICU for 9 long grueling days.
They were not sick, just early so the fact that they were in there was just a precaution. A very annoying and emotionally exhausting precaution.
They were on feeding tubes for about 5 days. When the tubes were removed they started doubling their food intake...hmmm? They still weren't gaining the 'required' amount of weight so we were told to stay longer, when we did get to finally bring them home, they started gaining weight like crazy. Again, hmmm?
We know there was a reason and that God is already using our little girls to help others (and we know it's the only reason they were truly in the NICU to begin with). Nora was given a shot while in the hospital against our explicit wishes. Come to find out there was no protocol to follow when someone requested to not have this particular shot so the information was lost. Now, because of our precious Nora, there is a very specific route to follow when someone asks to not have the shot. We know that one day that will mean someone elses life. We were and are still resting on the fact that she is in God's hands and I am clinging to Jer 29:11 - God has not set out to harm us...we can take that as fact and I do, several times a day!
Nora now weighs over 6 1/2 lbs and Sophie is over 7 lbs. They both grunt/talk...A LOT.
We had to separate them out of their bassinet the first night home because they just couldn't seem to stop talking to each other. THE FRIST NIGHT HOME!
Lydia and Samantha are doing ok. I'm thinkin' they miss all their activities we usually did. Lydia asks to "go to church" just about every day. They will adjust and one day we will have some sort of 'flow' around here.
For now, we have resolved to just go with the craziness, knowing it will only last a very short season...
