I really dislike Halloween.
I know most people just break it down to the whole costume and candy thing but I just can't.
I don't want to even recognize it as a day, let a lone a Holiday (def: Holy Day).

I always feel funky on this day and I always feel sad. It all just seems to backwards to me.
I broke down, literally 5 minutes before it started, and took the girls Trick-or-Treating and I am just not happy about my moment of weakness.
My excuse was "well, it was just hard to have Lydia see her friends all out there and not be with them" but my solution next year is to have a better plan.

no trick or treat, no lanterns, no even passing out candy...something way more creative and glorifying to my Jesus who gave all! "Christ is all and is in all"

Here is an article if you are dying to know why I am so distraught by this!
Please excuse the writers choice of titles for Jesus (Yeshua and Messiah) - I think he was just impressed with himself that he knew these!
Halloween Article

not here to condemn or change anyone - that's not my department - just here to vent my frustration over lack of planning and my caving in moment!

I HEAR YA!!!! - I was going to blog about the same thing this morning - but did not know how to go about it!

I just say that we do not teach our children to beg for candy!

or - to the kids - that it is not a holiday that makes God happy so why would we want to even try and get as close to that line? we should stay far away! - or when I am really being challenged - I say - "well pick one - do you wanna do halloween this year?" - then we won't do Christmas.... Christmas allways wins! (we do a less commercial version of christmas 'round here too!)

although - I am sorry you caved at the last minute - you will do better next year!~ - after all - we don't have to do it just because 'everybody else is'

*wink*

Don't you think it's what you want to make of it? Meaning, you can still have your kids dress up in fun stuff and maybe host of party of friends. That's it... a party. Not celebrating the origins of Halloween, etc.
So what about Easter? Obviously, as believers we celebrate the REAL reason for Easter. Our Lord and Savior died and rose again for us, making us free!! Alot of people celebrate Easter for the bunny and candy, egg hunts, etc. Same thing with Christmas...
So, I go back to the statement it's all what one wants to make of the holiday or celebration. We as believers for sure celebrate Christmas and Easter in a different understanding than an unbeliever...
Just some thoughts. :)
