the darndest things

ok, it's like 63 degrees outside - can I get an AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

so, where is Jake? BACK ON THE BEACH!!!! we have one nice day here in 3 months straight and he just has to one up us - but it is just for the night so we are forgiving him this one time.

after a deep/turbo cleaning of the house this morning (I bribed the girls and stuck them all in a room to play together with the door shut!) we went to the stinkin' ZOO!!! It's been so long I wondered if it still existed - I wasn't the only one either, there were like 50 bagillion people there.

As if the temperature, Jake being gone and the Zoo still is open wasn't weird enough here's what happened at the zoo:

1. ok, my quad stroller is the bomb except for one thing - it doesn't fit through bathroom doors - this does not bode well for a potty training two year old! my solution is (hold your panties, this might freak you out) to ask another 'nice' looking mommy to stand at the door, hold it open and watch the twins for me while I RUSH Lydia and Samantha through their business. I also pray like crazy asking God to send every available angel my way to stand guard over everyone - really, it's crazy.
Today was so neat though. I think I had not one mommy but five mommy's watching the girls and one of those mommies stood there, waited for me, shook my hand and left a $20 bill in my palm.

***insert ugly cry right in the middle of the zoo***

it was the neatest thing.

(that has happened to Jake and I together once before - someone handed us $60 while we were eating at a McD's on a toll road in the middle of OK - they knew we were military, they saw all the girls and then they complimented on their behavior - again, neat.)

you know it looks crazy when......people start handing you money on a regular basis!
(that should be another post!)

2. I pass almost no one without some sort of comment whether it's too us or just about us (we are like the cutest traveling freak show ever) so for someone to approach me is just part of the day - this one was different though: "Excuse me, do you live in B____?", "Yes.", "I think I sold you that stroller, are you Holly?"
ummm, ok, like weird.
We bought the stroller used off craigslist.org (the BEST) but her husband was the one who dropped it off
She and I had said numerous times that we'd love to go to the zoo together and meet (she has fertility triplets 4yrs old and then a surprise natural 2yr old!!!) and today, by complete chance, it happened.
Her husband was working, mine was on vacation ;-), so we just walked together and it was so fun. By fun I mean.....well, there's just no way to explain that.
8 kids under the age of 4 with 2 mommies.
yeah.

#3 we made it home in time for nap. ok, not that exciting for some of you but we are usually too early and then everyone is just cranky or too late and we've messed up the schedule due to eyes that refuse to stay open in the car. it was a small miracle.

GREAT DAY except we missed our daddy -
maybe next time (but I'm not counting on it - this darn Air Force!)

note: great day with NO camera - I'm out of the zoo swing and forgot it!
I promise I will post pictures later tonight -

Wow, what a trip. Will you make it a regular thing now with your new friend, the other mother of 4? The lady who handed you the $20 must have experienced the generosity of someone in her own life and wanted to pass that on to you. Perhaps she knew how special going to the zoo is for you all and wanted to be sure that you would come again. Who knows!

The world really is such a small place. We recently sold our house from our last station and moved overseas. We purchased a jeep once we got here and after talking to the lady for a while it turns out that her parents are the ones that purchased our home!
Crazy small world.
