what the hey.

"Mama!!!! Nora has a new face!!!!", Lydia says with excitement as she comes RUNNING out of the babies room into the kitchen this morning.

"Oh NO!", mom says as she darts into the babies room to make sure Nora is ok.

have you ever seen a blow fish all blown up?
then you've seen what Nora's face looked like this morning.

Behind a very think Korean accent and rough bedside manners all I could gather from the doctor is that she:
#1 - has never seen this and she'll be right back - hello???
#2 - ok, she called our doctor and they are hives but like a super human form of hives....ones that bruise in the middle - right!!??
#3 - no more omniceph (sp?) for ANYONE!!!!!! (same antibiotic that may have caused Sophie's hives) - no duh??!!!
#4 - 18 year olds have no business working in a pharmacy (unless that's their gift and passion and they are really good at it - just had to add that disclaimer in case I run into a great 18 yr old behind the pharmacy counter one day - it just wasn't today)!!!!!!! details details details....

God Bless! Murphy's Law is going overtime on your family, what gives? Don't know if we should be proud of Sophie for her super human ability to break out in hives, or if we should hold her and love her and give her a super human dose of Benadryl... I vote for the second, although her ability is quite impressive.

Holly,

I found your blog through another friend's and I had to comment on the hives! Our oldest son had the same thing when he was 15 months--caused by penicillen. His entire body was red from the hives but then bruised (dark blue and black). It seriously looked like he'd been run over by a semi truck and he was so swollen. When I rushed him to the doctor he said, "wow, let me go get a med student to see this--I've never seen hives so bad". Not the most comforting for this worried Mom, but it did pass after 10 days or so and some serious steriods and other meds. Hang in there!!!
