Texas, here we come....
THE SCOOP:
1. We will need to be there around Sept 1
2. It's a non-deployable position!!!!!!
3. Jake's mom works in the same building
4. Jake's next oldest brother (Luke) and his family live 10 minutes away from the town and the next two younger brothers live within 30 minutes.
5. It's Greenville, TX and it's a 'secret' job at a contracting office....sssshhh.....(aka for I don't remember what?)
6. For those of you who know about the flying world/military: yes, he will still be flying and still get his gate months and yes, it's a good career choice if he wanted to keep going later and he was a by-name-request
7. Did I mention it's non-deployable????
8. It's a little scary for me. This will make only the second time in my life that I will NOT be by a military base (I was 6,7&8 yrs old the first time)
9. The scary is off set by the fact that there will be LOTS of Jake's family around! Jake is beside himself, Jake's mom is even MORE beside herself! All of her grandchildren will be within 30 minutes of her house!
10. Getting to this job was the whole reason we chose to come to NE in the first place, so that just makes it even more exciting (if you make a 'plan' in the Air Force you're almost guaranteed that it will NOT happen, and this time it actually is happening so we're pretty sure that God had something to do with that!)
note: if you are finding out this way and think that you should have been told in person before you read it here just know that the only reason I didn't say anything is because there was NO way I was going to be able to handle the look on your face or the sound of your voice when you protested.....translation = you mean a lot to me and I knew this would be hard - for both of us.
note2: we don't have 'orders' yet but the word on the street (which means more than orders sometimes) is it's a done deal. I just felt I had to give that disclaimer in case you checked back on another day and saw something about us moving to Turkey :-) (we're not, just a little military humor)

I will miss you but I'm glad you will be by family and I'm sure you will make the most of your new adventure. You will defintely have to keep blogging so we can keep up with you!!
exciting! so, can you make VA part of your next plan ;-)
i'll be praying for your day tomorrow - for your girls' surgeries and all the details, etc surrounding that.
And it's NON-DEPLOYABLE!! Ok, I am officially jealous... CONGRATULATIONS!!
Amanda
Congratulations!
I am so happy for you. I'm moving a little ways away from my family, and you have been my inspiration to have a positive, can do attitude. You certainly deserve to live close to some family and have DH home more (I'm very not military, that is what non deployable means right?).
You are in my thoughts and prayers, especially with the surgeries tomorrow.
Keep on keeping on. You have no idea the impact you are making just by sharing your experiences.
Sincerely,
EM
YAHOO!!! Just think dates, sitters, and built in support system!(p.s. and it should be free!) One of the reasons we miss not being closer to family! CONGRATS...
Panter Fam I am pumped for you! (And praying for the girls surgery!) Love you & Miss you tons! -Erika G.
Yay for you! We are getting ready to move to Houston, so I googled where Greenville is and much to my disappointment, it is 4.5 hours away. And I am just assuming that you would want to meet me if I wanted to meet you!
I love the south, that is where I learned my motto...
The bigger your hair the closer to God. Get the hot rollers ready! I am however sad for all of us in Nebraska. I haven't known you long but you made my very first Nebraska winter bearable. I will always thank God for you.
Love ya sister!
Erika
Congratulations on the move! I can't imagine how nice it will be for you to have family so close by - I'm very happy for you guys!
CONGRATS! You all deserve this! Way to go Jake and Holly! And we're extra excited because we're in OK.... I'm going to go google map it :)
