there was a cake from Andalasia...

(see, if Lydia and Samantha can do it....)

while Lydia, Samantha and I worked on this here is what Sophie accomplished:

1 squirt of Lysol directly into her mouth, 1 box of oatmeal poured out onto the floor, a beautiful self portrait drawn on her legs with a pen, a broken - but repairable - computer mouse, somehow she got cornstarch all over HER face...not sure how she got up where we were or when she got up where we were, the weirder part was that she was eating it -ick!,

and I kid you not when I say this was all in about 30 minutes...she wastes no minute of any day. it's wharp speed or no speed for that kid.

phew.

Wow, that cake is beautiful! Any little girl's dream cake! And yikes :) Sophie definately keeps you on your toes. How wonderful that she is so creative and able to come up with fun "games" to play on her own... hehehe.... looking for the silver lining :)

If only we could sing out the window and have birds and rabbits come help us clean up our messes! I'd even welcome a swarm of cockroaches if they'd scrub out my tub. (We've just recently watched Enchanted)
Oh well, good luck with your day.

Oh, I thought of another comment:
Whenever I do an art project, I can count on paying a price. One time Roxanne poured out ALL of my beads. Once she emptied the file cabinet. It's the price you have to pay to be able to neglect your children for a short time while being creative.

Naomi - that is soooooooooo true!
I could fill up an entire book (or blog / 10" binder) with all the 'prices' I have paid!

Okay if I have said this once I have said it a thousand time, Holly you have mad skills!! I am blown away, you make my little project of a clean closet look very depressing indeed (and it took me 5 hours). I love that it is something you can share with your girls, and I love that you got an extra little helper, and still found something to laugh at. Have a great day!

So, this might be a dumb question, but do you eat the fondant? I always love seeing the pics of your cakes and I thought a while back you said that you used marshmallow fondant that tastes good, but then I thought I saw a pic of a cake after most of it had been eaten and there was still lots of fondant left. Silly question, I know, but I'm just curious as I'm fascinated by your creations.

not dumb. I know what picture you're talking about.

you can eat fondant, all kinds, it just doesn't usually taste very good (like some of the decorations on Savannah's cake)
marshmallow fondant taste better but it's really really sweet
some people like it others think it's ok
it's just yummier to peel it off and eat the icing and cake

with the Cinderella cake (the picture you saw) there were several layers to her dress so there was a lot of fondant on there and because it's sooo sweet you can only take so much at one time

No, Naomi, I did not finish this cake in 30min. I just worked on the roses that long with Lydia, Samantha and cleaning up/chasing Sophie the whole time.
