tip

according to a few friends who were over for a play date the other day I am full of 'tips'
and since there was a question about my floors, here is what I do:

#1 - I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Swiffer Vac. I have tried many other small vacs but this one is just amazing.
#2 - to mop I use a bucket of warm/hot water with a two count of dish soap and a two count of lavender baby oil (two count is tipping the bottle upside down and counting to two while lightly squeezing - clear as mud?)
#3 - Prepare yourself.......I clean my floors by hand with a wash cloth and a pampered chef scrapper. Now, before you get all impressed, I go really really fast and only stop to scrape a chunk if it looks like it might grow mold, is sharp or doesn't blend in.

There. Your 'tip' for the day.
why do I feel like that was the silliest post ever?

exactly what I was talking about and what I needed. Now, how much do you charge to do my floors?

But once you scrub it with that solution, don't you have to go back over it and rinse it again? I always wonder about this.

Naomi
I never do.
The dish soap cuts most of the oil and disinfects it
there is just enough oil on the floor to make it shiny but not enough to make it slick
the oil also helps to keep things from sticking the next time

all that being said I guess it boils down to personal preferance

And just yesterday I was looking at 2 bottles of baby oil thinking, "What could I use these for?" Is the lavendar just for smelling good?

I have a Swiffer Vac, too, but what I really love is my Swivel Sweeper. I ordered it off an info-mercial, but they have them in some stores now. I love it b/c it does the hardwood great and it can do carpet. Perfect for area rugs, etc. I love being able to go from one to the other. I use it almost every day.

Thanks for the hardwood tip!

ahhh ha ha! You rock! I don't have hard wood, but I do the same quick clean with paper towel and (eew) my fingernails and a spray bottle of all purpose cleaner in hand.
I'm glad you share these ideas, they are very helpful and reaffirming.

I think I'll give it a try. But I'll have to get some knee pads first.

It's also fun to let your kids wear wet socks and slide around. Accomplishes more than you would think, too. ;)
