#1 - I LOVE my laundry soap.
I have been asked for the recipe a few times so here it is:
2 c. Fels Naptha or Ivory Soap, grated with the finest side possible of my hand held cheese grater
1 c. Borax
1 c. Washing Soda
1 Tbs for light loads, 2 Tbs for heavy loads
it took me 10 minutes to make a triple batch and it fit in a shoe box sized plastic container
I use an old formula scoop
really, I love it.
#2 - I tried the whole adding essential oils to my vinegar for the Fabric Softener and although I am still sold on vinegar in general I did have to do something different to get the pretty smell I wanted.
Vinegar gets out ALL odors so putting an odor in with the vinegar just defeats the purpose (learned the hard way!)
I do, however, LOVE these:
Dryer Sachets
You get 3 for $8 and I have recharged them all at least once.
When I use them my clothes smell like Lavender (you could recharge with whatever oil you wanted!)
And we LOVE it!
I read somewhere you could just add the drops to a damp wash cloth and it would do the same thing....I don't know!?

Where did you finally find the essential oil? I would like to try the washcloth idea and see. I managed to find all of the soap ingredients at the commissary of all places. Getting ready to make the liquid version.
i used to make soap just like that... but after a while I noticed that it was fading my darks. How long have you been using it... do you have that problem?
