sick.

I have been complaining about the bugs 'in the mid-west' all summer long.
they seem to be worse this summer than ever before.
and how is that possible? it's was one of the harshest winters ever. everything should be dead!?
The wasps and wasp-like creatures (they are mutant, really, they are) have some personal vendetta against you that needs to be hashed out RIGHT NOW.
The flies bite...all of them, not just the horse flies, and they are THE most persistent flies I have ever encountered (and I've encountered flies all over the world mind you)
the mosquito's, well, apparently they bite you a lot if you have cholesterol close to your skin or something fancy like that. who knew? the girls and I all have cholesterol close to our skin - and I would have gone my entire life without knowing!? thank you Midwest mosquito's.
the fruit flies just appear and I don't have time to go off on or describe the spider issues.

But, I think they are wearing me down because this morning I actually killed a spider with cooking spray. Because the spray was already in my hand and I was mad he was near our food.
It was actually funny because he started slipping all over the place before he died.
I caught myself enjoying it and went back to be ticked off at the infestation though, don't worry.

SIDE NOTE....KIND OF: I did discover the BEST bug spray ever!!! Ever ever.
You add 4 drops of Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil to an 8 oz spray bottle and fill with water.
Besides the fact that it smells awesome I actually watched a troop of mosquito's (another mutant thing - when have you ever seen 'troops' of mosquito's - I thought they were lone rangers?!) fly all around the surface of my skin and never land....fly all around Samantha for over 2 minutes and never land (I was experimenting and I would have killed on contact, no worries)
I love it and I would know if it works because I have cholesterol close to my skin!

I feel your fustration! Gavin has been bit twice by wasp in our backyard on the patio and he terrified of going back there. We still make him go out of course- but it ussually goes with a threat of a nap and us standing on guard with a spatual or broom (which is now broke of course from killing one) just ready to attack those little suckers. I guess soon it will be freezing cold and we will be longing for the days of bugs!

Your side of the street must be worse than mine-I don't think it's nearly as bad as last year. But don't be sending your bugs my way, I don't want the crazy mosquitos you got hanging around!! Your mosquitos are fierce!

You forgot ants. I came downstairs this morning to a kitchen counter covered in them. Yuck. That, and my bowl/trap with hundreds of dead fruit flies in it (and this is like my 4th bowl!). Doesn't my kitchen sound nice and sanitary right about now?! :)

Right there with you girl!! Although I'm headed out to the store right now and added that oil stuff to my list...I have to be doused in deet to keep away mosquitos, and I do it every 30 minutes when I'm outside...no joke. I hate having it all over me...i'm trying this "concoction" tonight!!! thanks!

You could be thankful this wasn't your situation. http://inashoe.com/2008/08/05/ah-the-simple-horrors-in-life/

At least your kids will play outside when there are bugs. Mine just run inside screaming if there is an insect anywhere in the greater Omaha area!! I may try your bug spray recipe.

I've heard that the bugs are bad due to the floods in the Midwest. They really are horrible this year! I feel your pain!
