my buddy.

I have a buddy.
Her name is Sher.
She's been my buddy for over two years now.
I met her when she was sixteen, she had just accepted Christ as her only God two days prior and she had some severe addiction problems that for her privacy I will leave unnamed.
She's had a rough go at life. Rough home, loving but rough, rough school, rough friends, rough addictions that just keep changing.
It's just rough to be Sher.

We'd get her out of the pits of one addiction and a new one would pop it's ugly head. The counseling helped but didn't heal. My prayers and words helped but didn't heal. Her efforts helped but still there were walls all around her too high to climb.

For almost the entire time I have known her I have prayed that she would get into a treatment center for teen girls. Somewhere far away from home, somewhere that would keep her pure, somewhere that would point her upward over the walls, somewhere that would give clarity and meaning to her 'rough go'.

It's not easy to see someone try so hard....so hard....and not be able to do anything but catch her over and over and over again. It's exhausting to catch her, I can't imagine how exhausted she is from falling.

But, Mercy to the rescue.
It's free, she was accepted and she's headed there soon.
Praise God. Really, praise God.

I got to go and let her pick out some new outfits and shoes (because even shopping can be a ministry baby!!!) the other night, before she leaves, so that she could walk in feeling like at least she looked great.
The coolest part though is that I know at the end of all this, because Sher is so teachable, she will not only look amazing on the outside, her heart will finally be free to be amazing as well.

Go be amazing Sher and THANK YOU Mercy Ministries for taking my little Sher.
She's gonna blow you away.

Everyone needs someone in their back pocket, someone they can count on regardless of circumstances and failures. This usually comes packaged in a mother, but for Sher, you are her someone. You have caught her like you would with one of your own, loved her back on her feet and caught her again. It's a great example of God's love for us that He is our biggest fan and the one the loves us the MOST! You are a gift.

I'm praying right now for a young girl at our church, the daughter of a friend, who has applied to Mercy. When I first heard of Mercy, I got on their website, and Wow...what a place. What a wonderful opportunity for Sher. I will be praying for her, and if you have a minute I know a young girl named Amber here in Texas would appreciate your prayers. Thanks for being so willing to walk along side someone during the dark times.
