what is something cool that stands out about women and the Christmas story in general?

practical stuff...i remember a christmas function at church a couple years ago - they gave all kinds of PRACTICAL info - ideas to do with your kids for neighbors/friends, recipes, gift ideas.
but that's just me...always practical!
About women and the Christmas story - I think about being the mother and giving to people and being Obedient.
But about a Christmas theme with out the "story and women part" at church with women, i think about cool ways to wrap presents, save money, dress up nice for your husband, make pretty table decorations, rescue some puppies, feed the hungry and save the world!
Yes practical ideas on all levels. But also - since I have a HUGE funny bone - I love comic relief during the stressful holidays - so sometimes a good laugh about the holiday stress that women endure is good. Does that make sense?
i like those ideas. i also talked one time about how the christmas story has all the oddballs: shepherds were on the lowest rung of society, wisemen were foreigners, mary was scandalous, etc. all to say there is a place for me (giant oddball that i am) at the manger.
I would love to know how to explain to my girls that it's not about how many gifts they get or what they get, but it's about celebrating Jesus' birth (which our oldest knows the story and learns about it at church but still thinks it's all about how many gifts she gets)...i struggle with this every year...i have yet to hear good advice on the subject..

Great ideas...I agree with all. I like the practical stuff too. I love hearing others traditions, ideas for making it memorable, etc. Also like to get good children's book recommendations as i love anything that helps me drive home that Christmas is about JESUS!! Wish I could attend whatever it is you are doing!!:)

Also, if this is you putting on an event....maybe you could talk about making birthday cakes for Jesus and you could do something awesome with your cake decorating skills!
