Lydia has always been a bit of a drama queen but lately she has really out done herself.
She swallows a small piece of butterscotch
it goes down funny and kinda lodges itself
FREAKS HER OUT
Tears start streaming!
Forced gaging commences!
(which produces disgusting saliva/throaty puke in MY HAND)
Screams of fear ring loud!
it's 5p and she declares - in between the tears, forced gaging and screams of fear:
"I want to go nigh night!!!", "I don't want to eat dinner!!!", "I want to go nigh night", "I don't want to eat dinner!!!" - over and over and over again.
what was a mom and dad to do????
laugh?
stand in awe at the immediate escalation of emotions?
cry at the thought that this just might be what puberty is like for her?
because this is all kinda new - we did all three.
a piece of lint in the air flitters into her eye socket
she THROWS herself onto the ground in complete agony
holds her eye
'CAN'T OPEN MY EYES!!!! BUAAAHAAA!!!!'
'I want to go to the doctor right now and get it fixed again!!!' (referring to an ER visit over the summer when a piece of bark really did poke her in the eye)
30 minutes of rocking - 15 min. from mom and 15 min. from dad fixed that eye up brand new.
and lo and behold -
go figure?
now what!!!???

if it makes you feel any better, we recently learned that gifted kids can be extremely emotional and act much younger than their age/maturity level when things go wrong. go figure.
in that case Melanie, she is an absolute GENIUS!
