Gymnastics Recital (last Friday)

before the pictures:

recital was at 6:30p Friday
it's about 3 min. away
5:15p I herd us all inside, from playing outside, to get ready.
Nora and Sophie were decked in dress up.
Lydia and Samantha were caked in sweat.
or, at least that's all I though it was.
no big deal.
we'll just do bath after recital...I need a shower because I just spent two hours mowing the lawn.

BUT Samantha had peed her pants, for the third time that day, who knows how long ago because it had actually started to DRY and she smelled.  Bad.

Into the bath. But not for me.
Lydia, you too because you are just sweaty and gross, you sweat like your daddy.
(his family is cringing right now ;-)

clean up.
dry off.
let's get dressed.

oh wait.
I haven't done laundry in a week and a half, which means the shirts we wore for pictures last week are in the bottom of the hamper....which is full of Samantha's accidents.

more gross.  more stink.

both the shirts and all the black pants reeked of old urine.

it's now 5:33pm.
what to do?

I ran all the clothes to the kitchen sink. turned on the water. squirt some dish soap out and started scrubbing.

wrung them out as much as possible and threw them in the dryer.

heated up two chicken nuggets a piece and a tortilla with cheese.
dinner was served...where ever you were playing when I found you.

Nora and Sophie are still very sweaty and still in dress up.

Poor Emma, Lydia's little friend, needed to ride with us, so she entered our house right about now.

6:00 - hair had been braided, not great, but done.
dinner was being eaten and my toes were tapping because that just seemed to make the dryer go faster for some reason.

6:10 - the clothes were dry!!!!!  enough anyway ;-)
on they went, out we went, up pulls daddy (perfect timing!)

away we went.
Nora and Sophie still in dress up, daddy still in uniform, not sure if everyone or anyone actually ate anything, mommy was in 'lawn mowing' attire and was stinky, sweaty and a little green, the clothes might have been a little wet but at least they smelled like 'lemon fresh' instead of....well, not fresh.

all that.......

for this:

and it was worth it!!!!

we LOVED our gymnastics and will be doing it again next year.
so sweet.  so simple.  so fun.

next year, however, we will start getting ready for 'recital' at 3:00p.

Your posts CRACK ME UP!
I really hope to meet you in person someday, on this side of heaven!

I'm glad these things happen to people other than me!

OK - I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who deals with urine soaked and urine stenched hamper-fulls of clothes!! I've dealt with that lately with Tyler...he's trying hard to give up pull-ups at night but we're not there yet...and between the urine smell of his clothes and then the mildew smell of the towels...i want to vomit. and throw away all my towels and just start over.
