went to the free city Splash Park today.
last year they opened at 11am....someone told me they changed it to noon this year but I forgot.
no big deal.
we brought lunch.
eating, eating....
about 1000 more people show up.
mostly under the age of 4.
I mean, if we all just stood shoulder to shoulder on the splash pad, and didn't move, we might have been able to fit.
and you'd think with four sisters my girls would have no personal bubbles but oh boy do they - every single one of them.
so. we left before the water even turned on.
drove to a 'fun plex'/pool thingy not too far away that everyone had raved about.
showed up RIGHT as they were opening.
cash or check only.
ok.
back in the stinkin' car.
get cash, go back, wait in a VERY LONG line to get in.
and we're in.
no chairs.
well, LOTS of chairs, no one in them, but apparently the towels needed a place to sit.
set up in the grass, shoes off, put one toe in the water and the whistles started blowing.
break time.
people, do you know what we've been through to flippin' TOUCH the water!?
I let them 'sit' in the zero depth part and after vainly trying to talk sense into 3, 17yr old life guards, we just headed to the baby area.
fine.
10 min. later whistles blow again and 2 1/2 hours later, we are finally playing with water.
hallelujah.
it was worth it....Nora only almost drown 6 times but after 3 times she figured out not to freak because I was right there.
we will bring floaties next time girls....sorry!
Sophie was dunking herself on purpose and Lydia and Samantha were in heaven.
no pictures because I was more concerned with keeping us all alive!
maybe next time.
and maybe next time will be less comical.
oh! and I'm pretty sure it was not as stressful because there just happen to be two of my neighbors there!!!
thanks girls....you were literally a life saver today and I'm sure it's not the slow relaxed afternoon you were aiming for!
we Panters do bring a sort of, flare, to every outing!
oh man.

Last summer, when we moved here, was the first time I did water with the kids (minus the fill-up pool at the house)...by this time they were 4, 4, 3. So you are brave. Water was something I never messed with. SO last year, at the Y, in knee deep water, they were all in life-vests within 10 feet of me...no one was allowed to move without asking me. I think people thought I was a paranoid freak...yes...I was!
This year - no life jackets - they are all swimming and dunking and I can sit and enjoy. Even at the deep pools...on the shallow ends, the girls don't use their floaties and are learning to swim.
I know you may not believe it when people tell you it gets easier...but it DOES!! And it's wonderful. Unfortuantely, I'm sorry to say, maybe not quite yet for you. But be encouraged that it does!! You know I wouldn't tell you that if it wern't true!! :O)
exhausting....reading your adventures just makes me tired ;-) and P.S.- the splash parks is WAY better in the afternoon.
