Serra do Bouro,

a little tiny town near the bigger town called:
Caldas da Rainha (the town where I had the bathroom incident)

compredo?
hee hee...
we went to a town called
Obidos, completely surrounded by a stone wall built in the Roman Empire days, you have to park outside and walk in.
You can walk around the entire wall (except you have to get off at the castle and walk around to meet the 'path'/wall again) and it's just about 1 mile.
Yes, we totally did. Yes, it's very very high. No, not afraid of most heights. So long as my kids are not on the heights anyway ;-). There were, however, some very terrified people on the wall.
pic 1 is outside the wall pic 2 is up on top of the wall!!!
the beaches we went to were:
Foz do Alerho (pronounced fozsh but we just called it "THE Foz")
Sao Martinho do Porto
Peniche (Baleal is the beach we hit on this little strip...there were several)
(that's Jake way down there ;-) I wanted to run up the sand dune just to see if I could, and I did ;-)
Lisbon/Lisboa (why do we say Lisbon when they say Lisboa???) was about 45 min. away and other than flying in/out of there, we did not go see it.
Next time ;-)
although we aren't super sad.
we were looking for relaxing and that's not exactly what Lisboa is ;-)
the places we went....were ALL my favorite!
loved loved loved all of them!
we shopped, we ate, we sat, we talked, we walked and walked and walked, we drank espresso and then drank some more espresso - they are INTO their espresso.
DO NOT, however, attempt to buy, eat or see anything from 1-4pm.
they are as firm a believer in nap time as I am.
yet ANOTHER reason we just loved it there ;-)
it's all making sense now.
