C25K

that stands for Couch to 5K.

which means, theoretically, if you follow their program, you should be able to go from not a runner to a runner in 9 weeks.

I'm on week 5.

is it working?

my legs are burning, and I don't 'like' it right now, but I think it's 'working'.

(note: I can already run a 3.1 mile - I die at the end, but I can run it. so, I have been setting my inclines higher and running faster on this program to build up strength and be able to run a 3.1 mi without having to rest for 3 days afterward!)

things I do like about it:

it's an app on my iPhone
I can use my own music
it tells me when to run and when to walk and when to stop ;-)
I'm doing it with a lot 'o friends
I don't have to think

Yes, in case I hadn't mentioned it in a while, I'm still getting up at 5 am MOST mornings and going to the gym by my lonesome.
and now, two days a week I'm heading back to the gym with the girls, after breakfast, for C25K with some friends.

My weight is still SLOWLY dropping.
Really, when I concentrate on eating right, it does come off, it's just that concentrating part that gets me!
And, since I started getting up at 5am (last Dec, over a year ago!) it hasn't ever gone UP.

I have a goal to reach before we leave for VA.
It's a number I haven't been below since before Samantha.

and I'm not typing it here ;-)
or anywhere.
I'm just stating that there IS a goal.

So, I have a goal weight and my C25K should be done by then.
And I'm thinkin' I'll start it over when I get there, maybe with higher inclines and a little faster.

Or, if the snow EVER stops there, I'll go outside.

Outside? what's that?

fun! HA! we did that last year. and i had a love/hate relationship. but in the end i could run. and we kept going and i got up to running 9-10 miles at a time without dying. which is somethin'! :) good luck. at least you have some others doing it with you!

Very cool! I just downloaded the app to my Droid phone. I was looking for a new way to add more cardio to my week, I think this might be it! : )

cool. of course i LOVE this post! maybe we can run together one day?? :-) as another mom of 4 that gets up at 5 am...you are awesome! (Do you take naps? or go to bed early?? or not need much sleep??)
