You can now say to me, "I'm so glad you're settled"
and my blood won't curdle.
(people started saying that to us 5 days after we'd pulled in to town....maybe their idea of 'settled' is different than mine?)
either way.
no matter what you mean.
I will accept your compliment now.
(I do not pride myself on being able to take compliments....I stinketh at it.)
Now that my kitchen is in working order
and we have pictures on the wall
and there are little to no boxes that need to be gone through
and furniture is in it's place
and my laundry room is accessible
and the guest rooms are at least mostly ready
I can say, "We are pretty much settled"
There are still some serious decorating issues that need to be addressed.
(that is, if you consider decorating an issue, let alone serious)
and some closets that need love
and junk drawers that need attention
and book shelves that need alphabetized (I'm kidding....sort of)
and I wouldn't say our hearts are settled here, just our things.
which is one step closer, right?
should it be that way?
I don't know why, it's probably Holly just being extreme like always, but as we were going through stuff deciding what to keep and what to chuck I could help but think, "what if we were called to another country to minister and we could only take a small amount of stuff, if anything....I should get rid of this now so that it won't be such a huge job when we go"
;-)
no, we haven't been called to the mission field, but still, just in case we are, I got rid of more stuff!

Holly,
I am so glad you're settled!!
Off to alphabetize books now....:)
Gosh...We moved 5 months ago and I don't think I'm settled yet...mostly unpacked...settled...um..
OH I wish I could "settle" so quickly. It has taken me forever. We moved to AZ in July of last year and I am still getting things the way I want them.... Perhaps my standards are too high.... OR maybe we shouldn't have sold over half our stuff before moving to NYC... now it's taking a LONG time to replace and hence that settled feeling is harder to come by (Kinda requires furniture!!!)
Have fun with family in town :)
