camera

I don't know when it will be but I am in the market for a new camera.

I'm wanting an digital SLR and I know a bazillion of you out there have one.

would you do me a favor?

would you leave a comment with your camera type and give me your 1-3 top reasons that you love it most (or dislike it most)

and the #1 reason you chose it over others

I've been reading reviews but I really want your opinions!

i have the rebel.
i LOVE it.
but i think i would have loved the nikon also.

i just went with the rebel because i had a canon point and shoot and was comfortable with the software, etc.
AND most people i asked when i loved their pictures had the rebel.

i LOVE it - did i say that? ;-)

Another Rebel.
Also love it.
My favorite feature is having the ability to take pictures with no delay. You miss so much on digital cameras with a delay.

I also have the Cannon Rebel. I got it for a few reasons. Well recommended by my photographer best friend. I can take great pictures even though I don't know how to use the manual settings yet. Pictures with no delay time like my other digital camera had. I found a great deal online for it. And I love it. The biggest drawback is how huge it is. Sometimes when we are on the move I don't want to lug it, even though I would like some great pictures of the event. I think a little point and shoot would be nice, but then, maybe if I had a bag for it or something... Oh, another reason I got it is that I can get some great lenses for it eventually and be able to do more with zoom and ... And if I LOVE photography I should be able to keep the lenses and upgrade my camera. So far I haven't even learned how to use it manually yet, but rumor has it I might be able to convince Melissa to teach us a photography class sometime. :o) I need to get out of the house so I don't leave such long comments! :o)

Start here. Also lean the anatomy of a camera. DSLRS vary in their usage.

Rebel is a great general use DSLR. It was the first to market with a sub $1000, now there are many. It just depends on where you would like to be and the pictures you want to take.

holly...i have the nikon d5000! love love love it! Can look through the shutter yourself or use the lcd (which is large). The screen can flip all different ways and angles so you can hold your camera wherever you need to to get your shot (above your head/facing you). Its relatively light weight for the product (little me- i carry it around alot) Its super easy to switch lenses if you choose to do so...like 2 seconds flat with one hand! Cole has yet to hurt it in nearly two years! Best buy worked with us well and threw in a nice bag, extra lithium battery ( one of them lasts forever anyway) and an extra memory card. Finally you can either plug it in to put pics on your computer using the cord, or if your computer has a memory card slot you can just pop it in for a quicker transfer! Oh and most of the editing stuff that I have ever seen you do....you can do right there on the camera with the exception of writing on the pictures!

I have the Rebel T1i and LOVE IT! There was so much info online, one reasone I got it was because I could use my lense from my SLR camera from college. I used Adorama.com, great company to work with (not always easy to find that online) and I got a great price- cheaper than the Furniture Mart, AFEES, Best Buy or Walmart. I thought I'd use my cyber shot when I'm out because it's so much smaller, but the picture are soooo much better I use it ALL the time! Good Luck!

Ok, not a hater, but we have the Nikon d5000 with the 18-55 mm and the 55-200 lens. Big talk to say its the wide angle and the zoom. It's great, takes amazing pics and super fast shutter. Battery lasts FOREVER! and lots of different ways to manipulate the camera to get just what you want.

The Arts and Craft center here on base offers free get to know you classes, I recommend them for any camera you choose because you want to get the most for you money when you buy these things.

Because you are such a photographer, you want a great camera. I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine, but then again, I haven't used the canon.

My recommendation is the Cannon T2I. We love ours. The stock lens is great but I would buy the Cannon EFS 18-200 with the image stabilization F3.5-5.6.
Phenomenal pictures!
A big of a brick to carry around all the time so in my purse lives a cute little Panasonic DMC-TS1. It is shock proof and waterproof. Fantastic for handing it off to my little ones to snap photos. I also don't have to baby it as it can be dropped from 3 feet without damage. And the price was just right.
Good luck shopping!

Hey! I have the Canon Rebel XSi, Canon Rebel T1i, and Canon 7D....and I truly LOVE them all! (We'll be going to the 5d early next spring & then we'll be done!)I started with the xsi & then upgraded & had a great experience. Canon is such a great company to work with & each time I've had to contact them ab my point & shoot or SLR I've gotten great results. Plus my cable for all my canons all work the same! I ordered most of them at dell.com when they have a good sale!

But I also have a few friends that shoot with Nikon that also love theirs...I've played with them & loved mine better...but that could be just because I know mine :)

I'm going to be selling my Canon Rebel XSi because we don't use it any more if your interested? I still have the box, charger, battery, etc. (I'll have to look & see what all came with it.) We really only used it for like 7 months before we got the other & is in great shape!

Love you! Can't wait to see your photos once you get it!
