FRIDAY:
A pork roll, because according to Liz, who is my NY expert, that's what you eat in Chinatown!
crosswalks are cooler in NYC!
we're dorks.
we got to ride in a parking garage elevator twice.
we had to ask really really nice to be able to do this, this elevator is for YOUR CAR!
(p.s. the first time we rode in the elevator was when we were still IN our car, this picture was the second time when we realized we'd forgotten something IN our car.
Oh, and most people don't go in here at all, they just drop off their car and GO.
Not us, we're dorks. We needed to change in their restroom so they just left us in the car and took us down to the dungeon called a parking garage, that was...well, it was funny.)
Manhattan Bridge :
The Subway experience.
wow.
I all the sudden really really love our Metro here in DC A LOT.
They are sooo not the same.
the NYC subway is cooler on ONE account.
there was live entertainment, GOOD entertainment, everywhere!
like, I almost bought their CD and I'm kicking myself for not!
Broadway!!!
Time Square!!!
SATURDAY:
packet pick up/expo for the race:
Italian/Carbs Carbs Carbs.
this place was OUT OF THIS WORLD!
sooo good.
I am a geography dummy apparently.
I had no clue there were REAL beaches 1 hour from downtown NYC and twenty minutes from our hotel!
Talk about a PERFECT surprise!
Saturday went like this:
be lazy, sleep in until 8am (super super late for us!)
eat breakfast slow.
shop at the expo for some new unique running gear.
stuff ourselves silly with pasta in the land of American Italians.
Walk on the beach!
Stop at a street fair we stumbled on, shop and sniff the funnel cake air.
Go back to the hotel, shower, stuff ourselves again with 2/3 of the pasta we took home from lunch.
Watch ECLIPSE because our hotel had movies that weren't out on DVD yet.
oh. yes. we. did.
and. it. was. awesome.
and then get some good sleep!
I could have said, JUST RELAX AS BEST YOU KNOW HOW, but that would have been very very boring, so you got the other version!
I am ready to go back to NYC!

Love you friend.
ahhhh! such great posts! you did a GREAT job documenting it! thanks! :-) i had NO idea there was a beach so close to NYC?!?
AWESOME job on the race! you DID IT!!!
Ugh, this must be what it felt like when I went to Colorado Springs without you a couple months ago. November can not come fast enough. :~)
Geesh, even the McDonald's are blinged out!
And I love Becky's pose on the balcony of wherever you are in the theater district, she is so cute.
And leave it to the two of you to talk them into letting you ride in the parking garage elevator. And you didn't even have cake to bribe them with. :~) That all gets credit to that "Holly charm".
I want to be just like you when I grow up!! :) Can't wait to see you - 4 days!
So awesome! Thanks for sharing. Sooooo proud of you for finishing your race. You are the DIVA! Love from Alabama.
