Asia

I have a thing with the idea of 'just letting other cultures be'.
I feel like I hear it a lot and, despite the fear of being misunderstood, I'm just gonna say it.

I have a problem with it, and I'm not ashamed.  (I could write paragraphs here...but I'm just going to leave it with that.)

I think sometimes we, as a culture, use the idea of 'well, that's their choice, so just let them be' as a way to wash our hands of other people's hardships and go on with our luxury (or let ourselves be enveloped by our own problems, our own little universes).

It's not that I want to change a whole culture or Westernize or impose my daily living style on anyone else.
Not at all.
I have no qualms with eating style, clothing style, shopping methods, housing arrangements, etc...
I absolutely LOVE those things about other cultures and would be so so sad if they changed.

It's simply that I want the people to be free.  The way we were created to be.
I want them to be able to say they are Christians (or other religions) without fear of imprisonment or beatings or starvation.
And don't get me started on the cast system!

I don't want to have to write letters to people like this:

I will, I will keep writing them to my brothers and sisters and I will keep begging you to write them with me.  (click on the link!)

I'm just saying I wish I didn't have to.
I wish that Asia was free to be Muslim or Christian.

She's not.......and so she, her children, her husband and her friends suffer.

So let's not 'just let them be' - because she's my sister....no matter where she is.

(By the way CNN reported that the President of Pak....in his liberalistic views....was 'thinking' about letting her go.  That was two weeks ago, she is still in prison.  If you didn't get to read her story, the short version is she is in prison because someone asked if she was a Christian and she said 'yes'.
VOM has reported thousands of letters sent to Asia, that part was not mentioned in the CNN article!
Sending letters from the US to other countries prisoners like this puts those countries under pressure and pressure from the US is something they do not appreciate, which means that in many cases letters prove to be the single biggest reason why persecuted Christians are released.  They become a hassle to the government.  I'm sure the president was thinking about letting her go because of the attention she's receiving from the US and only partially because he is a liberal thinker...just my opinion!
Anyway, I want her to be free....I wrote her a letter and it took less than 5 min's, $.98 in stamps and a walk to my mail box.
THAT'S IT!)

If you're thinking about commenting and what you have to say might hurt a little, please let me say this: It's not easy for me to write this stuff....if I believed differently and if our country acted on the 'just let them be' view, then my husband and many of my close personal friends husbands would be home a lot more, or alive.....

Again, I could write so much more here, but I'm feeling like this just needs to end.
The diarrhea of the key board needs to be cut off!
