so, if you are a boy - be warned and just stop reading right now!!
now girls....what is the deal with:
#1 - finding a cute suit, looking for your size (and my size is the LAST one in the back of the rack ;-), pulling the suit out and discovering that because you had to pull the biggest size that automatically means you wanted them to change the shape into a SKIRT, making it no longer a cute suit???? no joke. on just about every suit.
see, I have a 'thing' with skirts on bathing suits. for some reason, on me, they either look juvenile or they just scream that I'm trying to hide something that you can obviously see anyway so why am I screaming about it?
and just because I have to wear the size I do shouldn't mean that I HAVE to wear a skirt.
#2 - when did 'modest' become just covering up your thighs but the top - let it all out!? or when did, 'I'm a bigger gal so I want most of the skin on the top part of my body to show - in every area'?
no joke. I googled modest bathing suits and the trend was cover up the bottom but let the girls come out.
well. not this girls girls.
so, I went to the mall instead.
soooo much better....
NOT.
#3 - again, back to the size and modesty thing - to get that combo I had to choose from either BRIGHT Hawaiian floral prints (the kind they stopped printing in 1982) or the purple and navy paisley's with gold buckles.
can you say: solid black?
really, how hard could that be?
is it possible to have a trendy suit, that smooths my tummy, covers up the cleavage for this mama who will essentially be doing aerobic type moves in her suit with four kids at the pool/lake/back yard/etc..., and IS NOT A SKIRT????
After several hours on-line and in the mall I THINK I have found one.
BUT...I have to order it on-line because the only color they had in my size in the store was....
.....drum roll please.....
highlighter orange.
and we all know how I feel about screaming about something you can already see, thank you very much.
so, in 2-4 business days. MAYBE I'll have a decent suit.
(check out landsend.com - and you can try them on at some Sears - but only the highlighter orange color ;-)
(oh, and if you happen to have a free shipping code for Lands End....do share :-)!!!)

Good for you actually going out and trying them on! ;) I think the last time I did that was five years ago, now I just have a 'collection' of many different styles in my closet to choose from just to avoid the frustration out there. I hope it's perfect (and not highlighter orange!) when it arrives!
PS:
The following might be helpful for shipping:
CODE Fourdeals PIN 8940
I was going to suggest Land's End, or Eddie Bauer. EB suits are pricey, but I really like mine. I had a bottom I liked (with a skirt, thank you very much!) :) but ordered a tankini top to go with it. All different styles and colors. I figure I can spend more $$, b/c I'm planning on wearing it for many years. (Except for this year... maternity suit. Woo hoo!)
i don't have a code...but i have 3 lands end suits and LOVE them (2 "bigger" sizes...for my "nursing" chest...summer #3 in them! and 1 suit in my "smaller" size that i only wore last summer and i will hopefully fit back into next summer). anyways...they are GREAT for all the crazy stuff us moms have to do in our bathing suits at the pool. oh, and 2 of mine have the "swim mini" skirts - and i LOVE that becuase i don't have to wear a cover up or anything...1 less thing to mess with! :-) and every little thing matters!!! i hope you love it!
I completely agree! Who says just because I'm bigger means I want a skirt? They look horrible on me! Some girls can really pull them off, but I am not one of them!
And, why do I want to attract attention to myself by wearing a lime green and fuscia print or leopard splotches all over my body? Who are these people who are designing these swimsuits? Must be men......
The font is way to small to scream this....
THANK YOU!
The girls don't need to be hanging out at the kid pool. Yuck.
Glad you found a suit but even more glad that I am not the only one having issues out there.

ok, this is too funny. I hate bathing suit shopping! Why is everything a freakin' halter top??? That's all I can find! I was thinking the whole time you were writing that I need to tell you about landsend...and bingo, you got it! Hope it works, send me the code if you find one!
I feel for you. I did this last summer and couldn't find a modest suit - not even lands end could give me the coverage and support I needed. I ended up getting boy shorts and surfer top - cute and sporty and I don't have to worry about sunburns on my shoulders anymore!
I'm with you, I just ordered, um, a lot from Lands End and hoping one works.
