We can.

We can do this.
an article I found on a 'twin' site...

Twins – How Do You Do It?

As a father of three-year-old twin boys, one of the most common questions I hear from other parents who don’t have twins is…“How do you do it”? I imagine the reason that I hear this question so often is because they’re thinking:

  1. While we have one diaper to change, you have two!
  2. When we’re feeding one baby, you’re feeding two!
  3. We have to put one child in a car seat, while you have to put two into car seats!
  4. Dealing with one child’s temper tantrums is bad enough, I can’t imagine dealing with two!

You get the idea. I’m sure there are a few more negative things to add to the list. I used to just agree with them and move on. After all, it’s hard to explain to someone that’s not a parent of twins how we deal with it all. But after giving it some thought, I’ve come up with a few responses that may help explain it…

How We Do It:

  1. Remember the feeling of happiness, joy and pride you felt the first time you saw your child? We experienced the same feelings twice within a matter of minutes!
  2. Remember the first time you saw your child smile? We saw two smiles!
  3. Remember the first word you heard your child say? We heard two words!
  4. Remember how proud you were when your child took that first step? We were twice as proud!
  5. You know when you tickle your child and you hear them laugh that full-belly laugh? We get twice the laughs!
  6. While you get one hug and kiss from your child, we get two!
  7. In the morning when you see one set of eyes peering up over the bed at you telling you it’s time to get up…we see two sets of eyes!
  8. You get to hear “daddy (or mommy), I love you” once. We get to hear it twice!

So maybe the next time someone asks you how you do it (or sometimes when you’re asking yourself how you do it), you can think back on some of these things and you can tell them exactly how you get by!
