I'm sure you're getting tired of me recording my 'firsts' with this bunch of kids, or maybe you're not. Either way, this is my record keeper and so here it goes:
10:45 - loaded all five of us up in the car
10:50 - dropped off ANOTHER load to Goodwill (I'm on a roll, pretty soon we'll be living in an empty house if I don't slow down!)
11:00 - lunch at Burger King
11:45 - off to Super Target for our first attempt at......drum roll please, this is very exciting.........GROCERY SHOPPING.
see, told you, not very exciting. it is to us however because in the last 17 months I have run errands with everyone all of three times, gone 'to' the grocery store but not really grocery shopped (like the BIG once a week shopping) maybe 5 times but today was the day. The cabinets were begging to be filled and the fridge was just a little (ok, a LOT) too bare and seeing as how there are 10 people coming over for dinner tomorrow night I thought it a good idea to feed them!
so, we were home, alive and still sort of all smiling by 1:30.
I'm exhausted, Samantha's feelings are hurt (they wouldn't be if she'd just KEEP UP!!!!), Lydia didn't get the bribery candy (almost but not quite), no one jumped off the cart.....ok, no one got HURT jumping off the cart.....no one peed their pants, no one really really cried, just moans and whimpers, and the job is done - groceries bought and another first under our belts.
I'm going to go take a nap - or at least think about it while I put all these groceries away!
p.s. I brought my camera but never got to a point where I could actually pull it out - we were a sight to see!!!!

I just want you to say I KNOW what this is like. Even if I only have 3...I understand!!!! I remember pushing a double stroller with the girls in it and pulling the cart with Tyler's car seat on top...or some combination of that. Then I'd see a new mom with her infant in her cart...with her husband and her mom...and she looked next to wiped out.
Wasn't it a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction?! Good for you!!! Stacy
YAH HOO FOR YOU!! Holly I am so proud of you. I knew you could do this because hello, you're a mother we can do anything! I had to laugh because I too would fill up the two shopping carts with kids a big and a little in each and then stack the groceries around them. I am sure we were a sight! Something for you to look forward to is Lydia being old enough to push the cart. Great job!
I'm seriously impressed...I remember stressing out after my
2nd child came along; how will I grocery shop with 2 kids I thought!!!???!
I'm just curious---Nora & Sophie in the cart and Lydia & Samantha walking?
Anyway, way to go! =)
Nicely done my friend!
Amanda
HOW? you ask?
two carts
one of the carts was a three seater (had that really really big plastic standing up but sitting thing for the big girls) so one baby in each cart and big girls were in and out of their wierd seat things.
we made very large wide turns and said 'excuse me' A LOT.
we filled both carts up with groceries - really, we NEEDED to go.
that's how.
i honestly don't know how on earth you were able to do it. i can't imagine pushing two carts--i can't even push one of those big honkin' mama carts (i hate them--they are so hard to steer). the times i've tried to steer even a regular cart one-handed have been unsuccessful. really. i don't know how you could do it.
I'm so happy for you. I still do everything in my power NOT to take my 3 to the store with me. And mine are older. Honestly, I think the older they are, the worse they get. The 10 year old whines the whole time and the little two are quite happy to ride and help pull stuff off the shelf. Of course, a free cookie (or TWO if I need more time--I'm not too proud to go back and beg) from the bakery seems to help.
