more on laundry

cut and pasted from another blog....

Distilled white vinegar can be used as a fabric softener.
Simply add approximately 3/4 cup to the final rinse cycle.
If you have a liquid-fabric-softener dispenser feature on your washer, you can add it there. Some people use a refillable fabric-softener/laundry ball and add vinegar instead of retail fabric softener.
Once the laundry is dry, you won’t smell the vinegar on your clothing.
You’ll discover it also helps keep colors bright, prevents lint, aids in odor removal and fights stains.

other things I've read but can't remember where....

vinegar is a natural disinfectant

it got all the 'puke' smells out of all the girls clothes when I had two with reflux - that's a lot of puke smell! (that's when I started using vinegar as fab. soft. and have been sold ever since!)

the smell of vinegar goes away as soon as it evaporates - I have a mixture of 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water in a squirt bottle and I use that to spot treat my floors, clean walls, disinfect counter tops and tables, clean windows, clean out fridge and microwave, etc...it's my all purpose cleaner...and my house does not smell like vinegar. it might smell like a dirty diaper or stinky shoes, but not vinegar!

I will be adding a few drops of essential oil to that mixture on top of adding it to my full strength vinegar for laundry....again, pending the oil.
will update soon!

DO NOT mix vinegar and bleach in your washer - it can create toxic fumes!!!!
(does not go for color safe bleach - that is fine)

Baking Soda is another one of my fav' cleaning products....I used to LOVE Mr. Clean Magic Erasers but found that once I used them on a surface that surface was more susceptible to stains and once it was stained the second time Mr. Clean didn't work!!!!
Baking Soda, however, works on every delicate/porous surface (stove tops, counter tops, walls, floors, etc...) I love it! Again, you can just google it for more info...I'm just the messenger!

NOTE: I HAVE USED THE LAUNDRY SOAP AND MY CLOTHES WERE CLEAN, SMELLED GREAT AND OTHER THAN THAT I COULDN'T TELL A DIFFERENCE EXCEPT MY WALLET FELT HEAVIER ;-)

We LOVE vinegar and baking soda in our house too. I like to have the kids "help" clean and I figure if they are cleaning with something you can/do/should ingest, it can't be harmful to them like chemical cleaners. Plus, they are so much cheaper! I haven't tried the laundry soap yet, but you have inspired me. I'll give it a go. Thanks!
