old plan: (slightly exaggerated, but not much)
~start at 1pm
~put babies in bed
~expect them to stay there and just go to sleep like little angels do
~get snacks/toys for the big girls
~put them in their respective rooms
~expect them to sit and stare at a wall, play silently with toys, or go to sleep for two hours
not working. I won't go into detail - refer to previous post- but that NEVER happened in the 'expected' way.
new plan:
~start at 2p
~ask Lydia and Samantha to go to their rooms and wait for mommy to put babies to sleep
~put babies in bed
~sit it their doorway and read myself a book, reminding them to lay down, close their eyes and go to sleep every time they forget (it took all of about 3 minutes for them to be completely asleep I sat there for 10 because my book was so dag gum good!)
~situate the big girls, no snack but desired toys, gave them places to nap if they wanted but with no expectation of sleeping, asked them to please play quietly but not 'silently'
So far so good. I'd have to say that I am calmer, ready for rest and not all worked up over guilt and fighting. Now that's a victory!
AND I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO GOOGLE THAT.

awesome! isn't it great when things work?
That's because you ROCK at being a mom of so many little girls!!! Good for you! Hope it works again tomorrow..and the next...etc!!
This is the method I went with when Jade was about 14 months old. I put them in the same room, said goodnights, and announced no more talking. (and wouldn't let them talk anymore). I would tell them if they wanted me to stay in the room they had to be respectful and quiet while I read my book. It worked every time. The two of them slept in the same room till about April of this year.
Glad to hear this go work out for you.
Still reading daily.
I hope your upcoming trip works out well.

Christianity 101? Is that another name for the Bible? Are you getting college credit for that?
You should have a show called Super Mommy!
yeah, Naomi, I'm just that smart ;-)
actually I'm reading it for a very HUGE reason, no college credit, it's bigger than that!
