church #2 - ok, just not drawn there (yet?)
church #3 - we learned, 'according to' Ps 23 that we are sheep, pastors are sheep dogs and it's their job to bark and nip at the sheep....if we nip and bark back it's ok 'cause they know we are all 'just a bunch of sheep'
right.
church #4 - we got the "Don't call Jesus 'Father' because who makes their kids call them Father...if you make your kids call you 'Father' you've got problems, you should instead always call Jesus 'Daddy'" speech.
like we've never heard that one before? palease!
in that same sermon crack cocaine, marijuana, porn and some other things I wouldn't want my children hearing from the pulpit flippantly were mentioned.
I have NO problems if they are mentioned with a purpose/for a reason but I do have a problem if they are used for shock value alone.
church #4.5 - (#4.5 because we almost went until a friend of ours told us this is what she'd heard when her family visited) WE HAVE INFILTRATED THE WHITE HOUSE! The voice of our church will be heard because we have members of our church on Obama's staff...we will influence him.
I know. This doesn't sound too horrible, but is it necessary from the pulpit? With all we could be talking about in scripture....you choose that?
church #5 - we learned that going to church is 'serving God' and that our serving Him must be Perfect.
uh hmm.
it's not going well.
and it's sad, to my heart, that there is that much horrible teaching of such amazing scriptures out there.
hands down, this is the worst part of moving.
especially when your last church was so blessed with amazing teaching and worship and service and love and etc..
but it's all good.
we know Who we serve.
we know He has a plan and we'll just keep at it until we find our new home.

I hate the church looking phase. I'm not sure how close this is but thought I'd mention it. Hopefully it's not one of the ones you already mentioned.

you crack me up lol
Sad. and true. No wonder there's so many people who have an aversion to church. Can ya blame them? Geesh. Sorry it's not going well. There is someplace out there for you, praying for find it in the right time. :)
oh this part just plain stinks. I'm sorry. Keep at it, you'll find your church people. I saw mama benton last week at church, I was almost in tears cause I miss me some panters. I'm a basket case these days. no news on eva and no news about our pcs. just need some sort of decision to be made about our lives!
Don't know what you have checked, yet, but some of my best friends from college love their church. If you go visit let me know so I can give you their names. I am pretty sure they would love to meet you (her dad is retired AF.) I have visited this church and liked it a lot at the time.

I am waiting to hear back from my cousins where they go to church, but I know they LOVE it. They live near Quantico. Don't know how far you want to travel for church, but I know these people and would trust their judgment enough to visit their church homes myself if I was there. Love and prayers from NE.
Wow! I haven't heard the whole "Father" message or the sheep one, and I've been in church my whole life. I don't look forward to finding a new church again, we have felt so blessed at CCC in Omaha- it was church #3 that we tried. I can't imagine the # of churches available in a much bigger city. You are in our prayers and we look forward to seeing where God leads you!
i'm sorry. that stinks...wish you lived closer to ours ;-)
i'm trying to guess which churches fit which numbers... and hoping ours wasn't on your reject list! :)
