I'm callin' it.

school is done.

I had never really planned on 'ending' school.
I still don't really.
but for my own guilt reasons I decided I needed closure for our Preschoolx2, Kindergarten and 1st Grade year.
not that we even do grades.
so, the moral of this story is that we are ending but we're not
we're moving on to the next grade but we don't really do grades.

I should just stop now.

but that would be no fun.

Here's what the house looked like on the 'last' day of this school 'year':

I decided to 'call' it based on the fact that we have officially finished Spanish, the Old Testament, as of today (because they all worked through 16 pages!!!) Handwriting and Lydia has done all her testing required for the state of Virginia (which was a joke).

those combined seemed reason enough to me.

we are still in the middle of math, because we found the books we love late in the year and we will not ever, never stop working on that or reading....or writing.
My thought is always (at this age) daily Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.
Whatever else happens is just gravy.

So, we're done with gravy I guess you could say.
oh, good gravy!
(my grandma always says that)

because I didn't plan ahead we just ripped open a box of Popsicles and I let them each have FOUR.
oh yes I did!
Because four is a multiple of sixteen and that's how many handwriting pages they needed to do to finish the books (yes, I use bribery and I'm proud of it), it's the fourth day of the school week and we have four girls.

again, reasons enough for me.

they are chanting 'we are done with school'
(uh hem...I haven't let them in on the dirty secret that reading, writing and arithmetic are technically school...shhhhh)

so, anyway.
we're 'done' ;-)

we can now do summer stuff whenever we want and school stuff when we're not doing that and I'll have no guilt reasons to worry about it.

Seth finished Kindie here weeks ago and we still have reading, handwriting practice (we cannot go lax on the cursive) and some various worksheets. Math is a constant in our world. His fun new math is chess lessons from his daddy over the summer.
I LOVE summer. And frozen things.
