One whole week. One post. What is this coming to?

You probably think I'm being a really really good mom.
Staying off the computer, pouring into my children, memorizing scripture, studying the Bible for 3 hours a day, running 8 miles every morning and putting on my make up too.

Let me be the first to pinch you and wake you up.
It's me your reading.  Me.

Actually, all I felt like doing this week was:

Because it looked exactly like this:
all. week. long.
really. it did.

But, you don't always get what you want.
Our week was the weirdest combo of super super good and super super BAAAAD.

BAAAAD:

We had 8 doctors appointments this week.
(four physicals for the girls, four teeth cleanings for the girls)

I was called 'ridiculous' by a doctor who didn't know I was standing RIGHT outside her door.
It was implied by a receptionist that I just made up my story about having our records transferred three weeks ago - so where are they?
I was interrogated about homeschooling, the safety of my house, corrected on the way in which I instruct my children to find help if they are lost (and her way was really dumb) and all of this AND MORE for both doctors to literally tell me:

There is NOTHING wrong.  No health concerns, no cavities, no weight/height issues, no learning disabilities, no wrong brushing...ETC.
So...tell me again why I have to do all this?!

oh yeah...'cause we're in the military and if we don't, no joke, JAKE could get in trouble.
uh huh....so super.

But, I love my husband and I'd have to go to the Family Advocacy meeting too sooo....we did it.

All I had to show for those appointments were some uber duber tense shoulders that took three days to work themselves out.

When I say, "I hate going to the doctor"...I REALLY hate going to the doctor.

We'll just add these to our list of: children being vaccinated against our wishes and notes in the chart, doctor dismissing my post pardem depression, doctor demeaning me over my tension migraine headaches in college, the five thousand times I've said to an Urgent care doctor...'they have ear infections' only to have them say, 'no they don't', only to have me be back the next day and then have them send us immediately to the ER, watching my daughter's blood 'not' being drawn after eight prick-and-dig attempts.....I'll stop the list here....
all military care ;-)

Wow...went on a tirade there.
Didn't see that coming.

I am, even if you can't tell from the above rant, thankful we have such EASY access to doctors and at the price we pay...really, I can't complain (except I just did, so.....).

I sometimes wish they didn't have such easy access to us.
Better yet, I wish NO ONE abused their kids so no one would have to 1. be abused. 2. be interrogated to make sure you're not an abuser.

moving on.

Gooooood:

Had dinner with Courtney and got an early birthday present - LOVED the dinner - LOVE quality friends like that. Can't wait to start reading my book!

Had lunch with Liza and one of her awesome co-workers (and now MY friend) Arika!
I felt like a big girl, going to a big girl lunch.
Why is it that talking with two social advocated gets my blood PUMPING?
I come home excited about what they do and about my part in it....I think most people would be depressed....what's my problem?

Had lunch out with just Jake....

basically, I was OUT a lot this week.

Ad great FULL school week, three 'dates', entertaining, 8 doctors appointments, gymnastics, dance, Bible Study, church and a hair appointment....

Random pictures and random bits from the week following:

Sophie:

Jake stuck that clothes pin on me...I snuck in back on him and it was there for a long time.
I was sooo proud of myself!

Samantha: LOOK MOMMY! My "hands are full!"

we still get told that every single time we are out and the girls have no idea that the other people are actually being 'negative' - they think it's what you're supposed to do (have your hands full).
and I hope they always feel that way.

Jake teaching our dinner guests how to use a Spirograph.
We throw really really exciting parties.

DANCE CAMP!!!!!!!
Saturday morning we dropped ALL FOUR of the girls off at a church for a FIVE HOUR Dance Camp.
FIVE HOURS for $30...total.

dude.

Jake and I headed to Georgetown for shopping and fancy lunch - HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I missed them like CrAzY...they were exhausted when we picked them up.
I could. not. do. that. every. day.
Like, if they were in school.  I could not.
nope.
but it was fun for a day and Georgetown was a blast.

Sunday, we figured...Super Bowl = not very busy National Mall.
and we were right.
Not only was it not busy, it was 47 degrees outside and SUNNY.
It's the first time it felt sunny ALL week.

National Museum of the American Indian (I really like this one!)

craft time in the Museum...and it was a really good craft!

Lydia is growing up...isn't she sweet?
still floors me that we live THIS close to our nations capitol!

museums, nations capitol and now, what our girls will remember from the day....
the marble/cement stairs and white concrete things from the Herbert Hoover building:

me thinks we have cabin fever - they sprinted up and down and all around these stairs for a long time.

ok...now I have to go do ALL my Bible Studies for the week...'cause with all this other stuff...I'm behind.

oh...and what Super Bowl?
was that on today?

Happy Birthday, Friend. We missed you at our get together last night. Brandi made a beautiful heart shaped red velvet cake. Wish you could have been there with your microphone!

I LOVE That you boycott superbowl Sunday :) good for you. People make SUCH a big deal of it here in AZ and it's so annoying.

You are SUPER busy girl. When do you sleep? I get tired just from reading your blog! You are amazing.

and what is up with the military doc apt requirements you speak of? IS this new? I don't recall my mom taking us to any of those and we were always seen by military docs.... new policies?
